“Sparkly fireworks light up the sky, while friends and family smile nearby, the band plays as we dance all night, laughing and talking under the stars so bright, pretending that shadows are playful sprites, we drift to sleep under the pale moonlight, only to wake to mornings light. All of life’s a dream or so it seems with nights like these.”

Holidays always seem to bring out the magic in life. I hope everyone had a magical 4th of July. If you didn’t just lay back and imagine what you want your 4th to be like next year, then make it happen. You might have to make life changes for it to come true but change is a necessary part of growth. As we age its important for us to grow as people, as growth brings us a renewed appreciation for life’s nuances.

I tend to go into deep contemplation after any holiday or big event. So here I am, wandering around a beach driving my sister crazy with my philosophical musings. It would of been easy for me to throw on some workout clothing and just hang out with my sister but I choose to wear something that would inspire me.

I found this shirt at a market in NYC. The seven virtues are listed on the shirt and that is what a passerby would see, but when you look down the seven deadly sins are written. I love this shirt, we are all guilty of smiling and laughing even if we may be in a dark period of our life. For my jewelry, I wore a silver Victorian necklace, as the Victorian period was a time of social contradiction. Lastly I layered a long rustic gold circle necklace to remind me that everything is connected and to live my life supporting those around me and contributing to the circle of life in any way I can.

Life is such a wonderful gift, we should always think of what we can do to improve our lives and the lives of those around us.

I liked the shirt very much and the necklaces are amazing! I know what you mean, I love beaches so much and philosophical talks, but some people hate them! And true, after a big event it’s nice to have some kind of catharsis! You look lovely!

I love the last line of this post! So true. Thanks for sharing your musings, and I totally agree with what you said about planning for next year. Last year I had a less than spectacular fourth in a new city by myself, and made sure to plan to have family come visit this year. It was a drastically different celebration!
